ALCOHOL
ISSUE:
Alcohol is the most popular drug among teenagers. |

STRATEGY:
- Continue to raise awareness among parents in Fayette County about social host ordinances, through the "Parents Who Host Lose the Most" annual campaign. - Monitor and strengthen the community's social host ordinances. - Sustain and broaden the alcohol education curriculum taught in our school system. |
MARIJUANA
ISSUE:
MARIJUANA is the second most used illicit substance by Fayette County teenagers. |

STRATEGY:
- Raise teen awareness of potential harms. Leverage that awareness to help increase levels of peer disapproval of marijuana use, among teens. - Actively participate in educating community stakeholders of the potential risks of certain marijuana policy that may increase teen recreational use of marijuana. - Seek solutions that enable marijuana to be more aggressively scientifically researched for medicinal purposes. |
PRESCRIPTION DRUGS
ISSUE:
Nationwide, the number of deaths from PRESCRIPTION DRUG overdoses now exceeds the number of deaths from car accidents and homicides- combined. |

- Promote safe storage of prescription drugs. - Promote secure disposal of expired prescription drugs. - Promote parent/teen conversations about the potential risks of the misuse of prescription drugs. - Help Fayette County residents connect to local resources related to prescription drug misuse prevention, mental health, and support. |
TOBACCO/ VAPING
ISSUE:
Vaping is rapidly becoming the most popular substance being used by teenagers. |

- Raise teen awareness of potential harms. Leverage that awareness to help increase levels of peer disapproval of vaping/tobacco use among teens. - Actively participate in educating community stakeholders of the potential benefits of policies to address vaping. - Encourage SBIRT screening of adolescents for tobacco and vaping use. |
